‘Operation Granite Shield’: Grant Funding Available For Drug Enforcement Operations, Substance Abuse Initiatives

CONCORD, N.H. – New Hampshire Department of Safety Commissioner Robert L. Quinn announces the opening of the grant application period for the anticipated next round of State funding for the Law Enforcement Substance Abuse Reduction initiative. The application period coincides with the anticipated legislative appropriation of RSA 21-P:66-68, which must be signed into law by the Governor on or before July 1.

The grant program, commonly known as ‘Operation Granite Shield’, provides local law enforcement and county law enforcement agencies, as well as regionalized agency coalitions specifically developed for this project, the resources to identify, investigate, and apprehend individuals and/or organizations that are involved in narcotics-related drug use and trafficking. The initiative supports the implementation of collaborative drug enforcement operations and initiatives to combat the illegal sale, misuse and abuse of narcotics; as well as prevent drug-related overdoses and deaths.

In fiscal year 2024, grants were provided to 9 law enforcement partners and more than 28 agencies statewide made use of the grant funds as outlined in the legislation.

The deadline for applicants to apply is Thursday, May 30, 2024 at noon.

Grant applications can be found on the Substance Abuse Reduction initiatives page and must be submitted via email to HomelandGrants@dos.nh.gov. Interested applicants with questions about the requirements of the Law Enforcement Substance Abuse Reduction initiative grant should contact the Department’s Grants Management Bureau at (603) 271-7663.
