'Operation Granite Shield': Additional Grant Funding for Drug Enforcement Operations, Substance Abuse Initiatives
CONCORD, New Hampshire – Today, New Hampshire Department of Safety Commissioner Robert L. Quinn announces the opening of the grant application period for the anticipated next round of State funding for the Law Enforcement Substance Abuse Reduction initiative. The application period coincides with the anticipated legislative appropriation of RSA 21-P:66-68, which must be signed into law by the Governor on or before July 1.
The grant program, commonly known as ‘Operation Granite Shield’, provides local law enforcement and county law enforcement agencies, as well as regionalized agency coalitions specifically developed for this project, the resources to identify, investigate, and apprehend individuals and/or organizations that are involved in narcotics-related drug use and trafficking. The initiative supports the implementation of collaborative drug enforcement operations and initiatives to combat the illegal sale, misuse and abuse of narcotics; as well as prevent drug-related overdoses and deaths.
In FY23, grants were provided to a total of 11 law enforcement partnerships and more than 80 agencies participated statewide made use of the grant funds as outlined in the legislation.
The deadline for applicants to apply is Friday, July 7, 2023 at 12:00 PM.
